How to improve communication skills

How to improve communication skills?

There are many ways in which you can improve your communication skills.

I will give you only three tips that – if you apply them consistently – you will dramatically improve your communication skills …

First – assume your communication responsibility

Always assume that it is YOUR responsibility to have a good communication with your receiver – always.

Don’t delegate this responsibility to anybody else – ever.

It doesn’t matter whom you are speaking with.

If you assume this responsibility – you will dramatically improve the quality of your communication.

Second – paraphrase

Always paraphrase the person you are speaking with – and always ask your receiver to paraphrase what you just said.

Don’t ever assume that your receiver understands what you mean.

Third – common language

Develop a common language with the people you communicate with the most.

If you consistently interact with a client or a supplier – either internal or external – develop a common language together.

What words do you use the most with these people? What is the exact meaning of such words? Do these words mean the same thing in different contexts? Etc.

Consistently apply these three simple – yet extremely effective – communication techniques, and you will be literally amazed about your communication skills improvement.

Conclusion:

How to improve communication skills?

  • Always assume your communication responsibility
  • Paraphrase
  • Develop a common language
