Communication Exercise

What type of communication exercise are you looking for? Is it an exercise to improve your team’s communication? Is it a exercise to improve your whole organization’s communication?

Whatever communication exercise you want, what you are looking for falls within the realm of the experiential education field.

Rather than offering you specific exercises (there are virtually hundreds of them), I offer you a couple of specialized organizations’ names, plus a small bibliography:

Organizations’ Names:

American Society for Training and Development (opens in a new window)

Organization Development Network (opens in a new window)

Bibliography (in chronological order):

Simon Priest and Karl Rohnke, “101 of the Best Corporate Team-Building Activities We Know” (Kendall-Hunt, Dubuque, IA: 2000).

Michael A. Gass, “Book of Metaphors” (Kendall / Hunt Publishing, Dubuque, IA: 1995).

Karl Rohnke, “Cowstails and Cobras II: A Guide to Games, Initiatives, Ropes Courses, & Adventure Curriculum” (Kendall-Hunt, Dubuque, IA: 1989).

Karl Rohnke, “Silver Bullets: A Guide to Initiative Problems, Adventure Games and Trust Activities” (Kendall-Hunt, Dubuque, IA: 1984).

Andrew Fluegelman (editor), “More New Games” (Doubleday, New York, NY: 1981).

Joel Goodman and Matt Weinstein, “Playfair” (Impact Publishers, San Luis Obispo, CA: 1980).

Andrew Fluegelman (editor), “The New Games Book” (Doubleday, New York, NY: 1976).

This should get you started in the right direction. Once you get familiar with the field of experiential education, you might find that it is relatively easy to find and even to design (if you have the time) the exercises that fit your needs.
