Your Leadership and your Passion

Your Leadership, your Passion and your Mission

Do you work just because you HAVE TO work?

Or do you work because you are passionate about what you do, you have a deep conviction in your heart, and you work because you WANT TO work?

Do you see the difference?

If “HAVE TO” is on the far left side of the spectrum - and “WANT TO” is on the far right side of the same spectrum …

Where are you on this spectrum?

Are you slightly on the left side - you work because you have to?

Or are you slightly on the right side - you work because you want to?

No matter what you do - the more you find yourself to the right on this spectrum - the better leader you are.

Let me be straightforward - and honest …

If you are NOT at the far right side on this spectrum - you are not the leader that you could potentially be.

If you are not doing what you are doing because of a burning desire and a truly deep conviction within yourself - I repeat - you are not the leader that you could potentially be.

It is that simple.

There is no way around it.

Real leaders are authentic - they lead by example - and passion is a key ingredient in their leadership.

Let me ask you a question:

Think about the leaders you admire the most - both - current leaders and past leaders.

I am going to throw in a few names: Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Hitler, Napoleon, etc.

Do you think these leaders were passionate about what they were doing? You bet they were.

They were on a mission indeed.

Can you imagine these leaders without passion? Of course not.

Now –

Why do you do what you do?

Are you on a mission?

Do you work because you are passionate about what you do - and you really WANT TO work?

Or are you missionlessness?

Do you work just because you HAVE TO work?

If you want to become the best leader that you could potentially be - you must be on a mission.

Conclusion:

Among other things - leadership is about passion.

Are you passionate about what you do?

In other words - do you have a mission within your guts?

If your employees are not as engaged as you would like them to be – is it perhaps because you don’t have that burning passion within yourself?

Remember – leaders lead by example.
